Inside The Project Robbie Doherty - Loneliness  Ableton Remake

1) Bass

The kick and bass follow a classic four-on-the-floor structure, with the bass playing a steady sixteenth-note pattern and strong Kickstart sidechain against the kick. The bass is created with the Bass preset in Serum 2, using three oscillators and a fast envelope to add rhythmic accents while staying tightly connected to the kick. Filter automation on both the kick and bass adds movement and interest to an otherwise simple groove.

2) Instruments & Harmony

The main harmony is carried by the Chords preset in Serum 2, playing the progression Dm → Fmaj → Bb → Gm → Am → Bb. Its strong house rhythm and filter automation create movement and keep the track engaging. In the drops, an additional Low Filtered layer in the lower register adds extra weight and density. The melody is played by the Melody preset in Serum 2, using three different waves and portamento to give it a subtle retro character. All instruments are created in Serum 2, with automation helping the arrangement evolve.

3) Drums

The drums follow a classic four-on-the-floor house groove with minimal percussion, leaving space for the instrumental groove to stand out. Subtle percussion accents appear every two bars, while classic snare and kick build-ups, complemented by a Crash before the drop, build tension and make the drop hit harder.

4) Full Project

The rhythmic work in the instruments shows how carefully designed patterns and automation can create an engaging, constantly evolving house groove without becoming repetitive. The project is a practical example of how to build a strong groove through rhythm and arrangement.

All TMA projects and templates feature a clean, professional arrangement, making it easy to understand the structure and explore MIDI, chords, Serum Presets, samples, sound design, automation and mixing techniques.
