Inside The Project MEDUZA, Khalid - Weekend Ableton Remake
1) Bass

The main Bass is created with a Serum 2 Bass preset, combining a bright pluck-style attack that opens the filter and a sustained body that keeps the low-end stable. The groove is shaped with Kickstart sidechain, while the MIDI pattern follows the notes D → C2 → A → A#, with passing notes from the D minor scale adding movement and musical flow.
In the breakdown sections with a more hip-hop inspired rhythm and a half-time feel, the low end is supported by two additional Serum 2 layers: a Sub-Bass with an 808-style character and a Reese Bass layer. The Reese Bass uses filter automation to gradually open and add extra energy during the pre-drops, helping create tension and drive before the main sections.
2)Drums

The drum section is built around a solid four-on-the-floor House groove, creating a steady and energetic foundation for the track. During the choruses, the rhythm transforms into a half-time pattern with a more Hip-Hop inspired feel, creating a strong contrast before suddenly returning to the full-speed groove. The long build-up leading into the drop increases tension, while the empty final bar before the drop creates extra impact and makes the transition feel even more powerful.
3) Chords / Synth

The main chord progression Dm → C → Am → Bbm runs throughout the entire track, creating a strong harmonic foundation. The chords are performed by a wide and atmospheric guitar sound created in Serum 2, with macro automation transforming its character during breakdowns and choruses. Combined with the drums and Reese Bass, these changes dramatically reshape the groove and help create a powerful contrast when moving into the drops.
4)Full Project

The arrangement of the track is built around a constant feeling of movement and anticipation. The contrast between the energetic four-on-the-floor House groove and the half-time Hip-Hop inspired sections creates a unique dynamic, making the transitions into the drops feel even more powerful.
