This Ableton Remake of SATA by John Summit and Rohaan captures the explosive bass house sound that made the track popular on Beatport and in festival DJ sets. Known for its aggressive bass design, high-energy drops, and dynamic build-ups, the track blends heavy club energy with modern electronic production. This remake demonstrates the drum programming, bass processing, and arrangement techniques used to achieve the original’s powerful dancefloor sound in Ableton Live.

Inside The Project John Summit & Rohaan - SATA  Ableton Remake

1) Bass

The low-end foundation is built around a pad-style Bass playing the notes A, A#, B. Strong Kickstart sidechain processing creates a clean and organic low end, leaving space for the three LFO Bass layers that build the track’s broken groove without clutter. Through detailed sound design using Ableton effects, gain automation and additional sidechain processing, the three LFO Bass layers work as one cohesive instrument. In the pre-drops, the main bass switches to a Break Bass preset, creating a question-and-answer effect with the other bass layers and adding extra movement to the groove.

2) Drums

The drums are built around a steady four-on-the-floor groove with minimal additional percussion, creating a clean and continuous rhythmic movement. Combined with the slightly broken feel of the LFO Bass, the simple drum foundation creates a strong broken-beat groove without unnecessary percussion or one-shots. A Drum Fill adds a one-bar empty break before the drop, highlighting the LFO Bass and making the transition more impactful.

3) Chords / Synth

At the end of the drop, a Pluck preset created entirely in Serum 2 enters, using simple waveforms and Kickstart sidechain processing while following the chord progression Am → Em → C → Am → F. Through filter and gain automation, it gradually introduces the wide and powerful Big Chord Saw, built from four Serum 2 presets: Saw, Saw 2, LD and Low Bass Saw. Its rhythmic pulse and harmonic movement transform the energy of the track, enhancing the breakdown and building tension towards the next drop.

4)FX

The Sub FX layer, created in Serum 2, uses automation and a tremolo effect to create an atmospheric feel through pitch movement and rhythmic modulation. The Noise 1 and Noise 2 FX layers use filter automation and sidechain processing to glue together and complement the minimalist mix, adding depth and movement without taking attention away from the main elements.

5) Full Project

The arrangement shows how automation and layered instruments can replace excessive percussion, creating a minimalistic but powerful groove. Each element adds movement and keeps the mix clean and focused.

All TMA projects and templates are built with a clean, professional and consistent arrangement, allowing you to quickly understand the structure and explore every production element — MIDI, notes, chords, Serum presets, samples, sound design techniques, automation and mixing approaches.
