Inside The Project D.O.D, Poppy Baskcomb - Confession Ableton Remake
1) Chords / Synth

The guitar group consists of 7 guitar layers spread across a wide stereo panorama, creating a spacious and immersive soundstage. Built entirely with Ableton Stock instruments, the guitars use group filter and gain automation to shape their dynamics and movement, becoming both the harmonic and rhythmic foundation of the track.
During the pre-drops, Pad 1 and Pad 2, created in Serum 2 using simple sine and saw waves with strong sidechain processing, add extra depth by playing the progression Cm → Fm → Gm and helping emphasize the impact of the drops.
2) Drums

The drum section has a simple and effective foundation, but gains a strong groove through a large amount of percussion accents inspired by Clave and Latin rhythms. The entire drum arrangement is created using Sampler instruments without loops or one-shots, allowing flexible and almost unlimited manipulation of the rhythmic elements, making it a useful Template for remakes or original productions. Filter automation on the whole drum group adds extra organic movement and dynamics during the pre-drops.
3) Bass

The main Bass part follows the notes C → F → Ab using a Bass Serum 2 preset, created with three simple waveforms and a subtle percussive envelope attack. The syncopated rhythm, combined with strong sidechain processing, allows the bass to groove tightly with both the percussion and the kick, creating a strong rhythmic foundation. In the pre-drops, it switches to a Bass 808 Serum 2 preset with a softer high-frequency character, changing the feel of the track while keeping the Clave-inspired pulse and continuous movement.
4) Full Project

The project is a great example of a flexible Afro House template, with a detailed percussion foundation that can be easily adapted, rearranged and used as inspiration for your own productions.
