1) Pluck

Progression: F3 → C#4 → D#4 → C4 → F3 → C3 → D#4 → F4 → A#3 → D#4 → C4 → G#3 → C4 → G#4 → C4 → G3 → C4 → G3 → C#4 → F3 → D#4

This is a custom Serum 2 pluck preset — two wavetable oscillators with wide unison stacked together, plus a sampled pluck layer, filtered and shaped with a fast attack and short decay for that plucked character. The heavy unison gives it a wide, spatial sound, and this pluck line carries the main emotional tension of the track.

2) Chords

Progression: F → Db maj7 → Bb7sus2 → Eb sus2

This chord section is carried by a Serum 2 "Piano & String" preset — layering piano, strings and viola multisamples — doubled by a separate Serum 2 synth preset playing the same MIDI part slightly behind it for reinforcement. Both presets share identical chord voicings, locking together to thicken the harmony, while the synth layer adds a pulsing rhythmic energy via Kickstart sidechain, turning the chords into a driving, groove-reinforcing element rather than just a static pad. The suspended and major7 voicings keep the harmony floating between hope and tension, giving the progression a bittersweet, emotionally open feel that never fully settles.

3) Reese

The second drop is driven by a Serum 2 "Mid Reese Bass" preset — two wavetable oscillators stacked with heavy unison for a thick, wide low end that gives the drop its power and brightness. Going into the drop, the pre-drop section builds tension through drum automation: the shaker is filtered with a low cut that gradually opens up into the highs, creating rising anticipation. Once the drop hits, the Reese bass takes over, delivering the brightness and weight that makes the impact land.

4) Background

Four static instruments come together to build a constant, unchanging sonic background that runs through the entire track without automation. Rather than sitting up front, this layer works quietly underneath everything else, shaping the track's mood and depth and tying the whole mix together into one cohesive, professional sound — a solid example of how skilled producers use Serum presets and sound design to build atmosphere without cluttering the arrangement.

5) Drums

The drums are built from a dense, layered percussion arrangement typical of Melodic House & Techno — kick and mid kick anchoring the low end, three tom layers adding rhythmic accents, two high percussion layers, three additional percussion layers, and an open hat rounding out the groove. One more interesting detail from the drum group: the shakers are built from a custom Drum Rack with several layers, playing the same part unchanged throughout the entire track. A subtle low-cut filter along with a slight high-frequency reduction around 5kHz is automated on top, creating movement within the shakers themselves and letting certain sections sit back while others open up and feel brighter.
