1) Bass

The main bass follows the chord progression Cm → Ab → Fm → Bb, created with the Bass preset in Serum 2 using two saw waves and a fast envelope. In the breakdowns, it is replaced by the Reese Bass preset from the same Serum 2, creating a dense low-end layer with just a few oscillators, all built without unnecessary plugins.

2) Drums

The drums follow a classic four-on-the-floor groove with a wide acoustic Open Hat. A group of percussion accents, including three Percs, Shaker, Grv Snare, Grv Clap and Crash, adds extra dancefloor energy through shifted accents and syncopation, giving the groove more movement and character.

3) Instruments

The main melody is created with the Melody preset in Serum 2 using a simple sine wave and extensive processing with Serum’s built-in effects, demonstrating the potential of keeping the entire sound design within a single plugin. The Organ preset adds short C → G two-note phrases in selected sections, adding groove and variation. A String preset holds the root note C in the upper register, while Kickstart sidechain and Auto Pan add movement and a more organic feel to the melodic layer.

4) Full Project

This project shows how a strong rhythmic foundation can drive the entire track without unnecessary complexity. Built almost entirely with plugins, it works as a practical template for studying and developing your own productions.
