Inside The Project James Hype - Seratonin Ableton Remake

1) Main Synth

The main synth consists of two layered channels, Main Synth and Mid, both playing the same MIDI pattern to create a wider and more balanced lead sound. Covering a range of C#2–A#2, the melody is built from a short repeating phrase, with octave accents introduced at the end of each cycle to reinforce the characteristic speed garage synth motif.

2) Sub

The Sub layer follows the same MIDI pattern as the Main Synth, transposed one octave lower to reinforce the low-end foundation. Covering a range of C#1–A#1, it doubles the main melody while remaining focused on the sub frequencies, adding depth and weight without altering the original musical phrase.

3) Reese

The Reese bass plays a sustained low-end pattern covering the notes F1, C#1, and D#1, before returning to F1. A Hi Cut automation is applied throughout the part, gradually shaping the high-frequency content while preserving the underlying bass pattern and introducing subtle tonal variation.

4) Chords

Chords: F2/C3 – C#2/G#2 – D#2/A#2

The chord layer alternates between three two-note voicings, providing harmonic support for the main arrangement. A Decay automation is applied throughout the part, gradually extending the length of each chord. As the decay increases, the sound evolves from a short, percussive stab into a more sustained chord, creating a smooth tonal transition without changing the MIDI pattern.

5) Drums & FX

The rhythm section is built around a layered speed garage drum kit featuring dedicated Kick, Break Kick, Clap, Snare 1, Snare 2, Hat, Open Hat, Open Hat Main, Ride, and an Old School Loop. A separate Tops Loop group combines two hat loops with Tambourine to extend the high-frequency texture of the groove. The FX section includes Noise Fall and Noise Drop, providing dedicated transition effects used throughout the arrangement.

6) Arrangement / Full Project View

The project is organized into four main groups: Acapella, Drum, Instruments, and FX. The Instruments section features dedicated layers for Hoover, Reese, Drop Synth, Main Synth, Mid, Sub, Chord, Chord 2, and Strings, with every synthesizer built exclusively in Xfer Serum. The project uses only Ableton Live stock effects, while the visible master chain consists of a single Limiter.
